During CES hipKey made its debut with word that it would appear exclusively in Apple Stores—online for sure, physical, not so sure—and that day has come…the hipKey has arrived. Mozilla Unveils Two Firefox OS Phones For Developers
Remember back when Windows 95 and NT were OSes to beat and Mac OS had reached a pinnacle point? That’s about the time when NeXT and BeOS started to get major attention. Both are gone today, but I think it’s safe to say that all OSes have some parts influenced by those early players. Recently Canonical announced a preview of a mobile phone (and tablet?) OS based on Ubuntu and today Mozilla has announced new Firefox OS developer preview phones. Continue reading

Gene Munster Maintains an Apple Television is Coming This Year
Gene Munster is at it again. Today while talking to Bloomberg (only audio is available), he is sticking to his guns that not only is an Apple Television set coming, but it’s still coming this year. And just as strongly I’ll stick to Apple isn’t going to make a television (there is really little margin in that business), but a better set-top box. Official iOS Version of Contra Hits the Chinese App Store
An official iOS port of Konami's famous gaming title Contra has hit the Chinese App Store in the form of two separate apps, one for the iPhone and one for the iPad. The release comes after several unofficial Contra apps, which were simply wrappers around a Contra NES ROM, were wrongly approved by Apple’s App Store review team and taken down later. The iPhone Remains the Top Pick in U.S. and Japan, Android Growth Slowing
Kantar Worldpanel released its Q4 2012 data today while Android devices (essentially Samsung) are most popular around the world, iPhones are the choice for consumers in the U.S. and Japan. In fact in Japan iPhone outpaces Android by almost 35 points. The Kantar Worldpanel results and TechCrunch’s analysis also brings up a warning sign, this time for Samsung—can Android smartphone growth be sustained or has the world hit smartphone saturation?
