Apple’s Smartphone Market Share Drops to 16.9%; While Samsung’s Market Share Jumps to 32.6% Posted: 28 Jul 2012 11:48 AM PDT Research firm International Data Corporation (IDC) reports that vendors shipped 153 million smartphones in the second quarter of 2012 compared to 108.3 million units in the second quarter of 2011, a year-over-year growth of 42%. Apple shipped 26 million iPhones in the quarter, a year-over-year growth of 27.5%. However, IDC estimates that Samsung shipped 50.2 million smartphones in the last quarter, a year-over-year growth of a whopping 172.8%. Continue reading →
