Apple Tweaks App Store Search Algorithm Again
TechCrunch follows up its last week’s report regarding App Store search with a new one, that suggests that Apple has changed the search algorithm again, this time with a larger emphasis on keywords and names. The change was noticed by a founder of Appcod.es, an App Store analytics firm, and subsequently confirmed by another company, Xyologic, specializing in the same field. Continue reading

Apple Granted Patent For Inductive Charging Dock
Apple’s looking at a future where all our iOS devices are fully untethered. While the company did take some steps towards a wireless future in the form of Wi-Fi syncing and iCloud, iOS devices still have to be plugged in either to a power plug or to a USB port to be charged. If Apple’s patents are any indication, the charging process would, in the future, become wireless. The company was granted a patent for an inductive charging dock titled “Antenna insert.” Continue reading

AT&T Approached RIM To Build An iPhone Competitor in 2010
The Wall Street Journal has a feature story detailing the missteps that led to RIM’s downfall. While the reasons varied from lack of communication between the ex co-CEOs, mismanagement and the emergence of the iPhone and Android phones, the story reveals a few interesting details about carriers and what they thought of the iPhone. Most carriers, no surprise here, didn’t like that the iPhone was gaining popularity amongst their subscriber base, and that they would have to relinquish control to Apple in order to carry the iPhone.
