Apple Withdraws Its Products From EPEAT’s Green Certification Registry
The U.S. government backed Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) announced that Apple has pulled all of its products from EPEAT’s registry and would no longer be submitting its future products for an EPEAT environmental rating. The company until now had 39 certified products including desktops, notebooks and monitors in the group’s registry. These products, however, didn’t include the iPhone or the iPad. Continue reading

Apple Adopting Wait And Watch Approach Towards Mobile Payments
The Wall Street Journal published an article detailing Apple’s approach towards mobile payments, an area that has generated a considerable amount of buzz, both due to the emergence of NFC hardware and the need to disrupt the current payments model. Microsoft, Google and a joint consortium of carriers are all trying their hand at developing a mobile payment solution through digital wallets, none of those services have however caught on with merchants or consumers. iPad Mini May Be Produced in Brazil; To Include 3G Capabilities
Japanese blog Macotakara reports that the rumored iPad mini will be manufactured in Brazil and Apple will be ramping up production starting in September. It is widely speculated that Apple will launch a smaller and cheaper iPad later this year to compete with cheaper Android-based tablets like Amazon’s Kindle Fire and Google Nexus 7 that was unveiled last week.
