Back in December 2009, Google made a bid to buy Yelp, the location based review site, for more than half a billion dollars. The bid obviously failed, following which Yelp went on to become a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange. German Court Says Motorola Xoom Doesn’t Infringe Apple’s iPad Design Patent
Associated Press reports that a German court has ruled in favor of Motorola, saying that the company’s Android based tablet, Xoom, doesn’t infringe on Apple’s iPad design patent. Apple had earlier filed a case in the Dusseldorf, Germany court seeking an injunction on the sales of Motorola’s Xoom throughout the European Union, claiming that the tablet’s design and looks resembled closely with the iPad. Yesterday, we noted (thanks to tip from our reader Mark) that the VIP Lists and VIP mailbox feature, which was only available on iPhone 4 or later, was also available on iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 4G with iOS 6 beta 3 update. Apple Takes Steps To Block In-App Purchase Hack
The last week saw Apple’s in-app purchasing system being compromised by a Russian hacker named Alexey Borodin, who used a man in the middle attack to bypass Apple’s servers and enable free in-app purchases. Although the process isn’t easy, nor does it work with all purchases, it is a threat to developer revenues nonetheless, which is why Apple responded on the same day saying that its teams were working on fixing the hole exploited by this hack.
