At the ongoing Re/Code Code conference, Apple’s SVP of Internet Services Eddy Cue and the CEO of Beats Jimmy Iovine spoke with Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher on the legacy of Steve Jobs as well as the freshly announced $3 billion deal between the two companies. Eddy Cue says Apple's upcoming products are the best in 25 years

Apple’s Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services was interviewed by Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg at the inaugural Code Conference earlier today. Keeping with Apple’s tradition, Cue did not reveal any juicy details about the upcoming product launches, but said that Apple’s upcoming products are the best he has ever seen since joining Apple. Beats Music apps will remain available for Android and Windows Phone

Now that Apple has officially announced the acquisition of Beats Electronics and the Beats Music service, customers who use the music service on competing platforms are wondering what will happen to their client when Apple finalizes the deal. Though Apple will oversee the future direction of the service, the company confirmed today that it plans to run Beats Music as an independent entity, leaving the existing clients in place. Today, Apple announced it was acquiring Beats Electronics and Beats Music for $3 billion in a deal that will bring Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre into the Apple fold. Following the official announcement, Apple CEO sent a memo to employees regarding the deal, reports 9to5Mac, which obtained a copy of this internal communication. Continue reading
