Majority of iPhone Users May Not be Eligible For Upgrade Subsidy For Next iPhone
iPhone 4S sales in the past few quarters have been off the charts, helping Apple record its best ever quarters, financially. Typically most of Apple’s product launches witness an extremely high pent up demand at launch, with sales numbers going in the millions in a period of a few days. However this fall with the new iPhone launches, an analyst from BTIG believes that Apple won’t see such high demand due to most AT&T iPhone 4S users still being locked into contract. Apple’s in house mapping solution was almost three years in the making (Apple’s first mapping acquisition was Placebase in July 2009), and it has a huge upfront task of not just matching the quality of Google maps but in fact being much better than it.
