Is this the iPhone 5S?
Images of what appear to be empty shells for the iPhone 5S have appeared in China. As expected, the device looks exactly like the iPhone 5. What makes this leak special, however, is some new leaked information regarding the phone’s specifications. Supposedly the iPhone 5S will use an IGZO display of the same size and resolution as the current iPhone 5. Under the hood there will be 2 GB of RAM, a quad-core GPU, 12 megapixel camera, NFC, and a fingerprint scanner. Continue reading

Apple might buy the company that invented the Microsoft Kinect, but then what happens?
According to the Israeli publication Calcalist, Apple is in talks to buy a company called PrimeSense. You might not have heard of them, but they were instrumental in creating the Kinect for Microsoft. What’s Kinect? It’s a camera that tracks your body in your living room. Oh look, random speculation from DigiTimes, hooray! The Taiwanese publication says “poor yields of fingerprint-recognition chips and LCD driver ICs” will force Apple to reduce the number of iPhone 5S units they’ll have available at launch. Now we know what you’re thinking, fingerprint technology? Yep, Apple bought a company back in July called AhthenTec for a hair over $350 million.
