Just about every device running iOS also runs on Apple’s brand new 64-bit A7 chip. Only two notable exceptions come to mind: The Apple TV and the iPod touch. The latter might cease to exists, but with regards to the former, rumor has it that the Apple TV will be refreshed in 2014 with A7 in tow. The source of the rumor is none other than KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has a pretty solid track record when it comes to this stuff. He says Apple’s goal is to sell a little over 8 million of these faster Apple TVs next year. Continue reading

Retina iPad mini Benchmarks confirms 5x performance improvement over original iPad mini, 7% slower than iPad Air
John Poole of Primate Labs reports that the Geekbench 3 benchmarks suggest that the Retina iPad mini is powered by a 1.3GHz A7 chip like the iPhone 5s, which is 100Mhz slower than iPad Air’s 1.4GHz A7 chip, just as we had reported yesterday.  Continue reading
