Google Announces Chromebook Pixel, Takes Aim at Apple’s MacBook
Earlier today, Google announced it’s entry into the laptop market by launching Chromebook Pixel, it’s flagship Chrome OS-based laptop, which it says is for “power users who have embraced the cloud”. It comes with a 12.85-inch touchscreen display with a 2560 x 1700 resolution that packs 239 ppi, which is the highest pixel density of any laptop screen on the market. You probably know by now that unlocking a cell phone is illegal in the U.S. as it would be a violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). Many consumers disagreed with this and started a White House petition, which appealed to the U.S. President to ask the Librarian of Congress, who originally deemed unlocking illegal in October last year, to reconsider the decision given the legitimate reasons a customer might want to unlock his or her carrier locked phone.
